Description: Dr. Donna Wirshing will discuss the adverse effects of second generation antipsychotics with a focus on metabolic side effects such as weight gain, diabetes, and hyperlipidemias. Concerns about these side effects have resulted in a new emphasis on the role of mental providers in addressing the long-term health needs of patients with serious psychotic illnesses.
